PASTOR MICHAEL J. EVANS

Reverend Michael James Evans is a native of Pittsburgh, PA., and the proud father of three children, two daughters and a son. He is a 2002 Master of Divinity graduate of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He is a graduate of University of Pittsburgh with a double major in Psychology & Philosophy, and also holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Geneva College with an emphasis on Community Ministry.

 

Rev. Evans was initially ordained as a member of the Progressive Baptist denomination prior to joining the Presbyterian Church, USA. He has followed the steps prescribed for him to become recognized and ordained as a Presbyterian Minister of Word and Sacrament.

 

Rev. Evans has had the opportunity to be involved in various outreach ministries: developing and training congregational members for community evangelism; directing after school, summer, and vacation bible school programs for the youth; developing ministry focused on mentoring young males; establishing an outreach ministry for recovering addicts; developing and maintaining a clothing ministry; sponsoring a morning breakfast program; forming a chaplain ministry at Lemington Nursing Facility, the oldest African-American nursing facility in the nation, plus many other endeavors focusing on teaching and community ministry.
